Random Fire Alarm Exposure — What to Expect?

Randomly set off the fire alarm in my building today, it was loud as hell... I had my ears plugged as hard as possible with my fingers for the entire time (about 1 minute or so). Left the room and went to quiet, there was a new tone that went away after a couple minutes. Right now it's completely normal. That being said...

I looked into it though and some people here have had absolutely devastating spikes from fire alarms just like this one.... and a lot of them have had pretty delayed onsets. I'm absolutely horrified at the thought of getting a spike, I've only just started to get my life back and it's been so nice, I can't go back to the place I was in before. I can't. I couldn't handle it.

Does anyone know if there are ways to know if the spike will be delayed? Does a delayed spike ever have some signs beforehand??? Anyone have any experience with a similar situation??? What should I do???

 

Update, if anyone cares in the future.

There was a spike, about 16-18 hours later. Only slight, definitely livible, hopefully it'll go down to base. Also the sound, which is usually scattered and static-like, is more of a solid ring. It fluctuates by seconds, though.

 

Fluctuations are good, that means the connections are still there. Take VERY good care of your ears in the meantime.

 

Agreed, fluctuation is good. I had 2 fire alarm exposures and both spikes subsided. I hope your spike subsides also.

 

Oh for real? Good to know, I hope to god that they stay there .... lmfao.... And definitely. Not even gonna listening to music with speakers for a while.

 

Wow, twice... the universe can be cruel. Really happy to hear they both subsided though!! No one deserves for something this dumb to cause irreparable damage...

 

Update: Huge progress on the spike!!! Almost down to baseline, too soon to say for certain but I'm pretty optimistic!!!

Being really nice to my ears seems to be really paying off!!
