      Hello

This happened around two weeks ago. The smoke alarm went off, it was way too loud and ever since I've been experiencing ringing in my left ear like a heartbeat. Not sure if this is pulsatile tinnitus. I do not experience any ringing in an outdoor environment however ringing comes back in a quite environment.

I checked with a doctor, it appears my ear drum/canal is fine. The doctor suggested I give this 6 to 8 weeks before consulting ENT specialist.

      Please advise.

Go to an ENT specialist now. GPs know nothing about tinnitus or NIHL.

If you go to an ENT, don't let him perform an acoustic reflex test on you no matter what. It might worsen your tinnits. If he/she places a device in your ear that gives off beeps, move your head away immediately. Don't give in to any kind of persuation attempt.

Save from that, your T seems fairly low. I think it might go away or you'll get used to it. But protect your hearing from now on. No concerts, clubs, firework shows, shooting lessons or use of inner ear phones.
