Should I Refrain from Taking Zoloft?

I get fairly severe anxiety and on a frequent basis. Subsequently I’ve been given a prescription for sertraline (Zoloft).

The problem is I’m petrified of it damaging my hearing due to its ototoxicity. I’ve had hyperacusis, ETD, TTTS and mild, transient tinnitus for years.

I saw one particular case of sudden hearing loss potentially being down to Zoloft, so to be honest, I’m freaking out.

Should I refrain from taking it? What should I know?

If it really is ototoxic (outside of very rare cases) then stop it immediately.
Temporarily stop it until you confirm with a doctor that it is.

It’s not ototoxic. Eg. It does not cause physical damage to the ear. It may or may not decrease your tinnitus which normally stops when the medication is stopped.

If you’re not comfortable taking it, then don’t but are you comfortable being anxious too?

Try CBD oil. Drink booze at the end of the day. Zoloft will make you go crazy.
