Should I Refrain from Taking Zoloft?

I get fairly severe anxiety and on a frequent basis. Subsequently I've been given a prescription for sertraline (Zoloft).

The problem is I'm petrified of it damaging my hearing due to its ototoxicity. I've had hyperacusis, ETD, TTTS and mild, transient tinnitus for years.

I saw one particular case of sudden hearing loss potentially being down to Zoloft, so to be honest, I'm freaking out.

Should I refrain from taking it? What should I know?

If it really is ototoxic (outside of very rare cases) then stop it immediately.
Temporarily stop it until you confirm with a doctor that it is.
