Eustachian tube.
I have had tinnitus in my left ear for three years.

I recently watched a video on YouTube about applying Vicks VapoRub under the nostrils. It gave me a little relief.

Then I started using the Vicks VapoInhaler multiple times a day. It has reduced the ringing in my left ear by 90 percent or more.

I was told it might be helping by unplugging my Eustachian tube.

Maybe this will help someone else the way it helped me.

Glad to hear you found something that helps.

Obviously, this is very unlikely to work for noise-induced tinnitus.

How long does the reduction in ringing last?

Great news, I'm glad it worked for you. I have experienced something similar to what you described, though not to the same degree. Our ears are extremely sensitive to pressure—just ask anyone who has flown on a plane.

My tinnitus is not very stable either. There are times when it is really loud, and other times when it is barely noticeable. Sometimes I do not even realize it has increased if I am outdoors or keeping busy.

The packaging says not to use it for more than seven days, as it can cause congestion to return or become worse. I think this is a good indication of what might be causing your tinnitus, but other approaches should be considered to address your Eustachian tube dysfunction.
