Tinnitus is back to “normal” today but it’s the level I can tolerate. Things came around! I’m ok now.

I've been struggling with my tinnitus terribly over the past week. Today, I suddenly have peace and silence. I don't know what I did.

I wish I could tell you. I woke up at 7 am with the terrible static and pain then forced myself to sleep in. I felt a huge buzz in my head and when I got up, it slowly disappeared into my head.

@Steph1710 absolutely! I thought I had heard it all before but I have had a terrible spike over the past week and now it seems to have settled down to my "normal" ringing but I am still worried it will spike again. The good thing is that I have the inner and mental strength to deal with it now than I did 5 years ago

are there any studies in using ear plugs to reduce tinnitus? I have found some success with this but not sure if that's what's done it.

sometimes I wonder if there's just a nerve spazzing out in my head that causes the electrical feeling. What does everyone else think?
      1. weab00
        weab00
I have a conspiracy that the reactivity is caused by electricity or wires that I can't see, and my hearing is so sensitive that it's interacting with it.

I also think about this. When I pull my next back and do a chin tuck, my tinny, high-pitched, electricity on glass tone attenuates quite a bit. I wonder if it's a pinched nerve in the neck, shoulders, or back as well.

@tbuzz89 I think of that too. If I clench my jaw, or push my head back my tinnitus turns from static to a high pitch whine. I don't understand how "they" don't know why.

I've been experiencing pain in my left ear tho, like a slight burning sensation. It sucks but I have to deal with it!

@Watasha hey, well it's basically me just living my day normally. I can hear my tinnitus sometimes but I don't give it so much power. Even if I have spikes, I go to the gym, meet up with friends, read, watch videos, etc. I don't let it control my life anymore and through this I have been able to just "get over it" if that makes sense?

hi @Watasha the volume is the same however I don't let it bother me. It's like I'm used the the level of loudness. It's hard to describe but it doesn't bother me. I can be in a quiet room with my tinnitus and I don't really care. Today I'm having a spike but mentally, I just think "okay sure this sucks but I don't really care that much anymore." so it just takes a backseat to my life. Hope that clarifies things!

Funny you mentioned this. My nephew was dismissive when I told him about taking precautions with his very mild tinnitus...until he had a very, very bad spike a couple of days ago. He freaked out. You can see it in his face. People don't really understand until it moderately/severely happens to them.

Not to make this about myself, but if there is anything I want to do in 2020 is I want to be more positive and to make a difference. I am pledging now to speak up more about the good days with my tinnitus. This is absolutely heartbreaking because reading Allan's past posts, I felt his pain. I was there right with him when I had first developed my tinnitus.

The other day I was thinking about how it was so loud and obnoxious but I was busy doing something important so I didn't mind it as much because I was focusing on something more important. Whereas at the start, I would've been so distraught and listening to it for hours. I think that definitely shows my progress as far as self-healing.
