I have been coping relatively well, though it is hard for me not to think about my T. When I am in my room and nothing is on I can hear the ringing. I think it is mainly in my left ear, though sometimes I get noises in my right one too. I have had some positive signs too: the noise has gone for a little while, maybe even for a whole afternoon once, but it always comes back. I keep busy by going to work and seeing people, but sometimes I feel like I am going mad.

Also I have movement in my ear, particularly when I am trying to get to sleep (though maybe I just notice it more). A little while ago I could hear a noise that sounded like someone was walking over my eardrum, but it was moving too. And I don't think it was pulsatile tinnitus, because it was quite fast and didn't match my pulse. I also get the feeling that something is moving in my ear, like fluid moving in there. Is this normal with a cold? Has anyone else ever had these type of symptoms? The doctor said she could see mucus in there - is that what is causing this? And does anyone know when these symptoms will end (I understand that even if my T isn't permanent, it could last for months)?

I don't know citigirl. I wish I did. I just had a very bad night. I'm wondering too it I might have fluid in my eustachian tube. I wish I could find a good doctor who could answer all my questions and put my greatest fears to rest. I hope the same for you. Maybe someone will be along to answer your questions soon.

Thank you for your kind wishes. I hope someone sorts this out soon - for everyone. I can't believe the medical profession is so clueless about ears.

I get the movement feeling often. Believe it or not, it's my ear's reaction to any little sound. I put cotton in and it quits wiggling simply because that lowers the volume of whatever the offending sound is, and it's usually not a loud sound.
For years, not now, but I remember I couldn't lay on my right side because that would make my left ear jump. Weird.

I'm struggling with super loud volume as well and it's so draining. I also feel movement in my ear and since I've lost some hearing in both ears I worry that the movement indicates further hearing loss. I agree with all of you about the docs. They just throw their hands up. Having another hearing test in a few weeks. If I find out my hearing is worse I will of course ask the doctor what can be done. The problems is when they categorize you as "hearing loss from unknown causes" then they obviously have no solution ;(

Does anyone think it might be possible that my ears are rumbling/moving due to mucus in the ear?

I am scared I might have hearing loss :-( I haven't really felt any change in my hearing. Haven't had a test but taken a few online and have said I don't have any hearing loss. I might go back and ask for a hearing test, but am anxious over the results. I always thought my ears weren't very good.

Just to update people: I just inhaled with menthol crystals because my sinus were feeling clogged - I got pain in my nose, just between my eyes - and not only did my sinuses clear I felt movement in my ear again.

Based on this evidence I don't think my T is noise-induced - not if inhaling caused that movement. Do people agree with that?
