Been feeling better for a few days, fairly low T and the hyperacusis almost gone. I was actually starting to feel hopeful that this would be a turning point. But no, here it goes again. My ears close up, the tinnitus sound and my anxiety go through the roof. I spend so much time on my ears: massaging, vibrating, breathing, relaxation, self hypnosis, not to mention constantly trying to pop my ears. It's just so disheartening. Got dates with: ENT, audiologist, hypnotherapist and another therapist. Thinking of trying acupuncture again, perhaps osteopathy? Don't understand why my ears have started acting up like this, the tinnitus is bad enough but my ears just don't feel well at all. Trying orphenadrine pills again (muscle relaxant) in case it's the tensor tympani cramping. Don't like to take them, they make me feel heavy, tired and headachy. But on the off chance that they might help... I'm just so exhausted and I want my life back! Ears are wonderful things, but I never dreamed they could cause so much misery!
Sorry for the outburst, sometimes you just feel the need to get things off your chest.

Hey Catarina!! Don't be sorry at all for posting, that's part of the reason TT exists!! I did the same thing a couple days ago, and got all sorts of support from people who really understand! Sometimes we just have to get it out, because most people in our lives, even through they love and care for us, can't actually understand how horrible T is!!

Glad you have the appointments lined up! Make sure you go!! Keep us updated!

Sometimes external things can set off a spike in our T (change in diet, loud noises, meds, etc..). And sometimes internal things (stress, anxiety, worry, etc..) and sometimes there is no reason!! So it's good to take stock to see if there is something that has caused the spike, and make the appropriate changes. But if we can't figure out why, we move on to just dealing with it! Don't abandon you breathing exercises and relaxation techniques. You are going to get through this!! My volume is still super high from my spike a couple days ago, but I am doing much better emotionally/mentally. Especially with all the support and encouragement I got here on TT!! Peace to you! :)

Hi Catarina, T can be very tiring sometimes. It seems you are trying everything you possible could, seeing a doctor, going to acupuncture. It's definitely a good thing that you are trying to make yourself feel better and more relaxed. I'm also trying this, by going to yoga and doing relaxation excercises. Even if the T sound will stay the same, it will help us deal with it. I try things to make my T more quiet, I avoid noises, too much coffeine etc.

But nontheless I have days when it's just very loud and I just have to deal with it. Then I have had days when I have done basically everything wrong (too little sleep, travelling in a noisy environment) and the T has been surprisingly quiet. I think one difficult thing about T is that it is something we cannot necessarily control very much but we just have to accept it, with the quiet and the more noisy days.
