I also went to the ENT because I have had tinnitus in my right ear for roughly three to four weeks. I would consider this tinnitus mild to moderate, since I can only hear it in quiet rooms. I think I got it from attending a series of concerts, but I am not entirely sure, as it seemed to creep up on me gradually.
I do not appear to have any hearing loss. However, they only tested up to 8 kHz, so I cannot be certain about the higher frequencies or possible hidden hearing loss.
The doctor prescribed me Prednisolone for 10 days. For the first three days, I am supposed to take 100 mg, and then taper off gradually. After doing some reading, I am concerned. It seems that the likelihood of improvement after three to four weeks is quite low. Prednisolone also has many potential side effects, and 100 mg seems like a high dose. I am now quite afraid to take it. I also read that psychosis is a possible side effect, and since I am not in the best mental state right now, I feel hesitant.
I also told the doctor that I have difficulty "popping" my right ear, and everything on that side feels a little clogged, including my nose. He simply said that the cortisone would take care of that as well.
