Steve Aoki DJ Tinnitus

One of the most famous DJs once posted in his twitter that he has Tinnitus... and you can still watch him playing very loud music... does not seems to bother him that much.

 

Well, there's Tinnitus and then there's Tinnitus.

 

I saw that tweet too but I don't know if he really does because he doesn't wear ear protection when he performs

 

I'm sure he has does have tinnitus. He use to never wear ear pro and also consumes alcohol so I'm sure his T could be moderately severe. Not sure how much his hearing has suffered though. He seems fine.

 

That tweet is from 2012. Has he done anything to raise awareness after that?

Still DJing out every weekend and putting out tracks.

 

DJ Adaro had bad tinnitus and hyperacusis. It took him 6 months until it subsided and he could resume sound work. 8 months until he had his first show again.



Recently got in contact with DJ Adaro. He said all was well.

In the EDM scene few DJs and Producers what i've seen and heard, actively promote to wear ear protection at their shows or them self being role models and use some. Approx. 1 year since i was at a EDM show last but i really hope it has change some way.

I know in Sweden anyway a large amount of musicians, producers went out in a joint debate article in newspapers for few years back telling about their way in a down spiral to being T sufferers but still working with music and wanted visitors to their shows using protective ear plugs.

 

Aoki has strict rules for no more then 85db in his booth . Still...

 

How many people have T because of what these DJs have done to them. It's pretty much standard practice for them to run their amps in the red over driving speakers. I think it's a case of what you put out into the World coming back to you.
