Cause of Tinnitus
Unsure
This post is my first attempt to be proactive in dealing with my tinnitus issue. I have experienced constant high-pitched ringing in my ears, brain fog and anxiety for over a month now. I am in the process of meeting with various specialists, but am trying to come to terms with the fact that they may not have a simple solution. This forum gives me a bit of relief to know I am not alone in this struggle. I am encouraged to not give in to despair after reading through some of these posts, despite the profound impact these symptoms seem to be having on my mood and ability to function "normally." I suppose I am trying to hope for the best, but preparing for the worst. Just have to take it one day at a time, right!?

Hi Dustin,
Try to remain positive as there are ways to cope better.
Brain fog is not nice as I get it a lot.
Try stay calm as the anxiety can feed tinnitus and its a vicious circle ...
Hope you get seen quick and get your ears checked.
Keep posting for support as we are here around the clock to support you....lots of love glynis

Welcome to the forum. Do you know what caused your T? Anyway, being positive will help the brain from freaking out which can cause it to focus on T all the time, making it sounding worse. Brain fog may be related to anxiety or sinus congestion for some people. If you find T very irritating and panic inducing, then best is to try mask it for the time being. Here are some masking options:

1) Mask at bed time so you can sleep better. Find whatever sounds/music that are soothing to you. You can use a sound machine or sound pillow for this, or a computer with speakers.

2) If you need masking on the go, try load an ipod with nature sounds or music using itune. If you have a smart phone, you can download free APPs for soothing or T-masking sounds.

3) If you have computer and speakers, you can try these excellent masking sounds too:

TT's audio player: https://www.tinnitustalk.com/audioplayer/

or this online sound library, particularly the self-mix nature sounds: http://mynoise.net/

or download free sound generator 'aire freshener': http://www.peterhirschberg.com/mysoftware.html

or search youtube with words like 'tinnitus masking sounds', 'white noise', 'rain sound' etc.
