      You said so... :)
But I suppose you meant in your original post that you haven't been to the cinema since your tinnitus started?

(Well, you likely did mean just that, since you also asked "And have you guys been to the movies since your T started?")

Anyway, you'll be fine. Enjoy the movie, the first one was great, and I can't wait to see the sequel! Ear plugs are a lifesaver in loud movies :)

      Maybe loud music. Not sure.
I just heard a little bit about these movies.

Still, a lot of people in France complain of the volume in movie theaters.

I wear ear plugs if it is a noisy movie. Bring some anyway. If it's loud use them, if not don't. Either way enjoy the movie and take a 2 hour break from your T....

So agree - take some ear plugs if its loud - go and enjoy - popcorn, coke cola, sweets and ice cream the lot ! Those films r really popular in the UK- the 2nd one 'Catching Fire' is out this weekend - my youngest is off to watch it with her friends.

      Go have fun xx

Maybe if you isolate yourself from noise completely.

I watched Gravity 2 weeks ago. The commercials before the movie were crazy-coco-bananas-loud, but I was wearing plugs and didn't feel discomfort or any side effects. Even with plugs I was able to hear the movie clearly.

Are you saying you still haven't habituated to you T since 2001? That's a bit of a shocker to be honest. Mine started only 2 months ago, it even went away for almost 2 weeks. But you know Tinnitus being the monster it is came back, With a new T sound plus my the Old Sound which was whistling. The new sound sounds like static, or a white noise from a radio when there's no station on. And believe it or not, i have taken it quite well already, I'm living everyday like i used to. . . More quieter now though. I stopped caring, I learned to let go and just accepted it. Maybe its because its like what you said, "mines not to bad I just worry constantly that it will get worse" See, You even said so yourself that its not too bad, But you just worry about it. That's the thing there DON'T WORRY TOO MUCH! Take good care of your ears but STOP WORRYING THAT IT WILL GET WORSE. Chances are it won't, And even if you worry what good would that do to you? Nothing right? No one knows what'll happen. Just like no one knew my T would be gone and come back with vengeance. Infact when that day came when my T vanished i didn't even think about it. I didn't try to put the though of "What if it comes back?" into my head. So Here's a great tip. : LIVE YOU LIFE! EVERY MOMENT OF EVERY DAY! DON'T WORRY ABOUT THINGS UNTIL YOU ACTUALLY HAVE TO FACE THEM! BE HAPPY! STAY HAPPY! :)

      Best of wishes.
      xoxo Anne

@AnneG double confusion :p Let us know how it went aye without too many spoilers (Lovely picture btw!)
Officially ordered tickets for Ender's Game in a week with the family, both exciting and abit nervewrecking, but again.. watching kids annihilate each other is always quality time
What kind of earplugs should be sufficient? I have some of those muffling foam earplugs but they're quite uncomfortable tbh

      @Jameslikestosurf
Since 2001, that is a shocker. You're right everything is loud - The first days of my t I drove my bike home through Copenhagen, avoiding all noisy mainstreets. Two days in a row I kept ending up next to the biggest trucks on the smallest roads, roadworks, sirens, busses honking only on my path, and two choppers flew right above me
Aanyway, now I'm driving back on the mainroad, next to busses and cars in and attempt to test and accustom the treshold of my ears. Can't let the fear get to me! If my t hasn't reached it's peak, I best enjoy present, take my precautions but not worry too much about it :)
I assume there will be a risk by attending to events or cinemas, meaning you ofc must take care as Anne says, just keep in mind how isolation and being scared of what you love is the safe path downhill :)
Get some custom earplugs for loud places imo, I'm planning too.

thanks peeps…thats all great advice….I know I just need to stop worrying..like my ma always says your dammed if you do…and dammed if you don't!…I guess some people just don't habituate that well and I'm glad for the people that can habituate…i have accepted that I have T and can't change it…but I struggle getting used to the fact it stops me doing things I want because I'm worried of the consequences…an ENT specialist told me 100% my T would get worse if I wore plugs because my hearing would become more sensitive..but then loads of people say plugs are fine?
here I go again worrying :dohanimation: haha …ok no more worrying from now!

Keep the faith James, if your down you can always bitch to me mate! You've had your T longer than me but it saddens me as your still young. Don't want to sound religious (Coming from a confirmed Atheist ha ha) Count your blessings so far. The only thing it stops me from doing is sleeping occasionally however I ten d to have a night cap or two before bedtime helps.

Hey guys! So i just got home from watching Catching Fire and oh my god how i loved it! I saw everything i saw in my head while reading the book. All the Cinemas were 2D though. So i found myself worrying about my T. There were like a lot of explosion going on! especially that BOOM everytine a tribute dies! And I'm sorry to say this But mine got louder once i got out of the cinema, But no regrets it was definitely worth it! I absolutely loved it!

I'm curious, what plugs were you wearing? did you fit them properly? did you think of T during the movie?

No Plugs, I was thinking about T. But after a few hours i realized my T actually didn't get loud. It was the same, But my perception of it was expecting that it would get louder after the cinema, that's why i THOUGHT it did.

I go to the cinema almost every week it has no effect on my T. Concerning the movie it was pretty good, not a big fan, but I went for it since I saw the first one too. Starts off kinda slow, but the end sets it up nicely for the third film.

I've been to several movies since the T onset, the last one being "Thor: The Dark World" (Chris Hemsworth. Dang, but that man is PURTY!! ;)) I have not worn plugs in the theater yet; while I DO admit my T is a bit louder than usual after leaving the cinema, it seems to settle back down to its normal noise levels in about two-three hours. I plan on seeing "Catching Fire", though I don't know yet if it'll be in the theater or when it hits OnDemand on my cable system; the next film I AM going to see in the theater is "The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug". I don't get out to the movies much, mainly due to a) lack of time and b) lack of cash (What, $30+ dollars for two tickets, popcorn and soda? Not very often!) but thus far I have not worried about its effect on my T. I even went to see "Jesus Christ Superstar" at Pittsburgh's Byham Theater in March of last year - now, THAT got noisy (full orchestra and amped singing) but it was superb. Again, noisy T that night, and a bit louder than usual the next day, but no lasting ill effects.

I just came home (wore earplugs throughout the whole thing, not badboy enough)
maybe too much silence with earplugs as I could really hear my t then lol, But.. the movie is... Well, I'm a big fan of audiobooks and but after this movie I am to read the actual book.
It was faantastic, no spikes, just watching children soldiers with the family!

      Hunger Games up next :cat:
