Tinnitus and Playing a Musical Instrument

I play electric guitar and sometimes practice without the amplifier turned on, it's not loud at all that way.

It seems like after I practice this way the intensity and loudness of the tinnitus gets worse.

I wonder if it could be because of the activity going on in the brain when making music.

Has anyone else ever experienced this?

I don't experience this when I play my drums. Perhaps you have some kind of "reactive tinnitus". It takes a while to understand how our T reacts...

Yes, I got the same thing even before I had chronic T. I played lead guitar in a Metal band and after practice my ears would ring. Hell, even practicing on a small little amp would kick it up briefly. Though, it would always eventually find it's way back down.

I play acoustic nylon strung guitar and if anything if helps the T.
