      Hello everyone!

My name is Allison and I am 18 years old. This last year I’ve had mono, several cases of strep, and severe congestion. I’ve always dealt with bad congestion since I was little but it seemed to get worse after the mono. I noticed around about December 20, 2017 there was a slight ringing in my left ear that wouldn’t go away. My ears feel full, my head feels foggy, and I often times don’t feel in my body. I’ve gone to my regular doctor and two ENT specialists. Verdict is I have just below normal hearing in my left ear and several issues regarding my tonsils and nose (result of mono). Unfortunately, the ringing in my ear as well as congestion and throat problems have caused me severe anxiety/panic attacks. I’ve researched depersonalization and depression symptoms that seem to align with what I’m experiencing. Mainly, I get nervous about the headaches, slightly foggy vision, or out of body feelings.

Has anyone else experienced these symptoms in regards to tinnitus and anxiety? If so, what has helped you cope with it. I feel as if I’m not acting like myself because I’m too worried about my health.

Welcome to the forum Allison. I truly have empathy for your suffering and understand the symptoms of anxiety/depression you are having. Some years back, I was in the same shoes, overwhelmed by the relentless anxiety/panic/depression symptoms triggered by my horrible, ultra high pitch tinnitus plus also severe hyperacusis. I also had suffered decades of anxiety and panic disorders plus PTSD after witnessing the tragedy of losing my son. I had all those symptoms you are talking about and more. So I was in a mess physically and mentally when T & H first arrived suddenly. Everyday was filled with anxiety and panic attacks plus facing T & H. I never thought I would recover. But never say never. Today I live a normal, productive and really enjoyable life, travelling often with my loved ones to enjoy life to the fullness. I wrote my success story and share some helpful strategies. For brevity, I provide the link if you have the time to check it. Hang in there. Don't panic and despair. Your T is very new so it may just fade over time. Good time can be back. Believe it. Take care. God bless your recovery.
