Hi everyone, My name is Cesar.

I got tinnitus after drinking a lot of alcohol at a party. At the party, I was able to walk and talk, but when I got home I realized there was a noise in my ears like static when a TV is on. It has decreased since then but I still hear it. During the day it is not a problem but at night it can be annoying.

I hear a static sound or a low whistle, mostly in the left ear.

Should I have my ear wax cleaned?

It is not common cause for alcohol to trigger tinnitus. Perhaps it may come from something else and your drinking alcohol is just a coincidence. It is a good idea to see an ENT to check out the ears and if there is too much ear wax then the ENT can deal with it. Micro-suction can cause problem of tinnitus sometimes. Perhaps ask the ENT to use manual method to remove the wax.

      Hi and welcome here.

      Was the party especially loud?

It's less likely your tinnitus was caused by ear wax since you have developed tinnitus in both ears. Better to seek ENT for advice and have a hearing test.

Ok thanks. Could the hearing test affect tinnitus?

I mean an audiogram. It won't affect your tinnitus. Most ENTs will give you an audiogram before giving you advice.

Then it was probably the noise and not the alcohol which caused the tinnitus - but I could be wrong.

Yes, maybe a combination of both.
