Hi all, I need your opinion. I developed tinnitus just about 6 weeks ago from an allergic reaction to Fluoridex Sensitivity Relief Toothpaste most likely to its ingredient potassium nitrate.

Doctors don't believe me that a toothpaste can cause this, but as soon as I was done with only one application the static noise started and hasn't stopped since then.

What are your opinions? Would this go away on its own? Any story similar to mine?

Is there any injection or medication I can use before my time runs out?

I've been very depressed over this, my whole life has changed, please help.

Welcome to the forum. Sorry to hear your suffering with the new tinnitus triggered by alergy to a toothpaste. Potassium nitrate has been talked about as a substance that can trigger tinnitus. If you don't find enough response in the Introduction, you can try search our forum or google search it and should be able to find some posts on it. Good luck. Take care. God bless.

Here is the result from a search of potassium nitrate:

I doubt it.

They are probably right.

I suggest you go see a doctor (an ear specialist, not a GP) and start root causing your noise. Starting with a hearing test is not uncommon.

You can use this flowchart to help guide the diagnosis (you may want to bring it to your doctors): https://www.tinnitusresearch.net/index.php/for-clinicians/diagnostic-flowchart

Good luck!

@Saraazar -- I'm sorry to hear how this toothpaste has caused you tinnitus (I believe you even though your doctors don't). I hope you can get some improvement(s) soon. Thanks for alerting us to this danger!
