      Hello all,

I'm new here, I'm a male in my mid 30s and have been suffering from tinnitus since 11/2018.

It all started one evening while I was cleaning my right ear canal with a cotton swab. I was doing so until I heard a crunching sound and immediately stopped. My ear felt funny for a few seconds afterwards but I could hear just fine so I thought nothing of it.

Next morning I woke up with a ringing sound in my ear and feeling a bit light headed. Hoping it would go away, lunch time came and the sound intensified. As I was finishing my lunch I began to black out, something I have never experienced before. It felt like someone was flicking the on and off switch to my brain. I was taken to the ER where they took blood and urine samples that later came back normal. I was given meclizine and was released.

In December, I had a cCTt brain scan that came back negative. I do not have Meniere's I have been told. In January I got a MRI brain scan that also came back negative. I took a hearing test and my hearing is normal. While taking the hearing test, the specialist stuck a camera in my ear and noticed I had small green specs in ear canal. She could not tell me anything further.

My ENT has told my tinnitus is not something that I caused by poking at my ear. He is now sending me to see a cardiologist because he does not like the fact that I'm taking Metoprolol 25mg x2 daily at such a young age.

So here I'm, writing to you all in hope of advice, recommendations, any words of encouragement would be welcome.

      Thank you.

Do you have a history of loud noise, loud music, loud cars, loud work environment?

For most people here that's the case.

Presumably your eardrum was checked for wax you might have impacted there using the cotton bud?
