      Hi everyone,

I got a flu went to the doctor and got doxydyn 200 (tetracycline) and paracodol (paracetamol and codeine). After taking my second half pill of doxydyn, my tinnitus got louder and I developed a new sound in my left ear. Can't sleep because of the sound.

What should I do, continue taking it or wait the flu out? Or is it because of the flu?

Please help. I don't know what to do? What antibiotic is safe to take?

An ENT guaranteed me that amoxicillin is safe for my ears and does the job, so i took it and indeed it was effective and it didn't give my ears more problems.
To just wait for the flu to go away is also an option. The T increase with the new sound may be due to the flu, but it may be NOT just a concidence the timing (the increase while taking what you took), so why take a risk while there is amoxicillin?

Hi thanks for the reply. My spike went 90% away and the new sound is gone. I'm scared what to do both have some reports to cause tinnitus. I can see the doctor today. Really don't know what to do?

Did this happen after you stopped taking tetracycline?

Keep in mind that there seem to be no reports at that website about tetracycline causing T (but you could be the one who now has a report about it). As for the reports regarding amoxicilline, it is less than 1% of people who file reports (which must represent less than 1% of everyone who took the drug). So the risk is still low...

my spike started about an hour after taking the second half pill and stopped about 11 hours later, now it is almost back to baseline

and after taking it I needed to pee like 20 times maybe it's not good for me?

I would suggest the spike is from the flu if this has not been mentioned.

      Good luck.
