Hey,
Last year 2018 Janury I got pretty severe tinnitus and hyperacusis, I believe from medication called Lexapro/Cipralex. I was using only 5 mg, the lowest dosage, for 3 days until the 4th morning I woke up to a high-pitched ringing in my ears and moderate hyperacusis.
The weird part is when I was having a very bad stomach flu in February it seemed to make my tinnitus almost totally gone. I could watch Netflix on a TV with pretty low volume without my tinnitus causing any distress.
There's so much to tell... I don't even know where to begin. I can modulate my tinnitus with jaw/neck movement... usually it makes it louder and the pitch might change for a few moments but I have noticed sometimes it goes also down in volume.
I have noticed that my hyperacusis has been getting better in the last let's say 4-5 months.
I have mild hyperacusis at the moment... but my tinnitus seems to be pretty awful still.
I think these are still positive changes. Sometimes I notice when I talk on the phone that my tinnitus goes very low or it might even disappear for a moment... coming back to me in a few moments.
I had very bad stomach pain on Friday and again I noticed when talking to my sister on the phone that my tinnitus had gone away completely. WHAT the HECK is going on? This is crazy?
I haven't had any stomach pain or anything like that from February last year until last Friday so I don't think it's something to do in my stomach. My hearing has been checked 3 times in this time I have had tinnitus and I had perfect hearing. I know they only test from 250 Hz to 8 kHz I believe but still it's good that there is no problem on these frequencies.
I'm having a lot more stress this week so I'm feeling that my tinnitus is more intrusive and keeps bothering me even more now. I just wanted to write in here, it's all weird.
OH hey I just wanted to add that I started having jaw clenching in October 2017.
So I'm not sure if TMJ / TMD is the cause or at least triggering it or making it worse.
I'm trying to cope so please don't totally destroy me with comments and such.
Also to add, I had a feeling of fullness in my ear sometimes. I haven't had that for many months now... only lasting for a few minutes. Previously I had it for hours a day.
