Tinnitus Louder Because of Antibiotics / Steroids?

Hey all, since about 3 days I got this awful chest infection, yesterday was very bad to the point where I could barely breathe after doing something minor... I didn't sleep at all last night and went to the doctors this morning, got prescribed antibiotics and steroids for a while.

I'm feeling a bit better today but nowhere near 100%.

I've noticed my tinnitus is a bit louder since I'm on them... Is that normal? Will it go away after I'm finished? Thank you so much

 

Certain meds can increase the tinnitus and make it louder. Hopefully it fades or goes lower once your are feeling better and off the meds...

You are very welcome. I try to avoid meds at all costs, but if i have an infection, then the meds are necessary. It's a tough road, when we have tinnitus (Mine is beyond horrible/loud/not maskable-in both ears) and have to take some meds.

Finish your meds, get that infection over with and just heal from it. That's how I look at it

 

which antibiotics are you on?

 

They say for most it goes away once you finish the medicine, i am one of the few that it didn't go away for.

 

I do hope your tinnitus quiets down somehow. Since you have had it for such a long time, you deserve a much-needed break. Sending my good wishes.

Yes it's back to normal now, this was ages ago To be honest now that i look back at it chances are it seemed louder was because of my ears getting full of wax rather than antibiotics, a stuffy nose makes it worse too because it's all connected to the ears (hope I'm making sense)

 

Ok thx i'm glad to hear that, cause i'm on steroids since 4 days and my T has spike .. like a vacuum cleaner always on in the background !! I just quit the meds, hope it will be fine and goes back to baseline level.

 

I hope it does too, it did for me Drink plenty of water and some vitamins, after beign sick it's what you need
