I have had a cold for the past one week thought it's getting better. I know that colds do make tinnitus louder but my concern is that my tinnitus has doubled in my left ear - what's worse it seems I now have tinnitus in my good ear.

I just wondered do colds have such major effects on tinnitus as the loudness doubles in my case and what is the normal recovery time for it to go back to baseline (if it does)?

A cold recently had an adverse effect on my tinnitus. Sinuses congested, ears clogged. Ugh, I was a mess for days. My thought is that my tinnitus hadn't necessarily gotten worse (?) as much as my hearing diminished leaving me with the impression it was worse. Don't really know for sure, but it did get better in time. Hope yours does as well.
