I developed unilateral tinnitus in 2024 for no apparent reason. My hearing is excellent, and the ENT gave me a clean bill of health. A few weeks later, the other ear became affected, and in the following days and weeks, I developed middle ear myoclonus (ear rumbling and buzzing), teeth chattering, jaw stiffness, facial spasms, and skin sensitivity on my face.

This went on for over a year but began to improve with chiropractic treatment.

Earlier this summer, I started going to sleep and waking up with no tinnitus at all. When I blocked my ears, I heard absolutely nothing. It did not feel like habituation—it simply vanished, for more than two months.

And then it came back.

I am at a loss because I have continued with both chiropractic and physiotherapy, so I cannot understand why it would return. I am just looking for some words of encouragement, I suppose—something to reassure me that I am still on the right track.

May I ask what kind of treatment your chiropractor provided? Adjustments, massages, any other therapy you can describe? If you had 2 months of relief, I would hope you can get back to that level of relief. Best wishes to you. Thank you.

The fact that the tinnitus stopped for months at a time is very positive. If it happened once, it can happen again. It also means that at some point it may stop for good. I believe you are currently experiencing a setback, but you are still moving in a positive and forward direction. Keep fighting, and you will overcome this.
