Tinnitus ONLY While Wearing a Hearing Aid

Hi folks! I'm writing to see if anyone else has a similar issue and whether they found a solution? My husband, aged 54, has hearing loss. It seems to run in his family. He finally got a hearing aid only to find that it caused Tinnitus, so he won't wear it. Of course, his hearing loss is gradually increasing and he is missing out on many conversations. Has anyone else suffered this problem? Were you able to eventually find a hearing aid that did not cause Tinnitus? Thank you in advance for your suggestions.

interesting, i've heard of just the opposite of hearing aids helping tinnitus.

Does he hear tinnitus in a complete silent room or when he plugs his ears? How loud?

Did he buy them off the internet or have them done by a computer to give him back the frequencies he has lost ?
