      Hello everyone,

Stina, I've also developed "something" in my ears in November, it started out one night while I was on vacations after taking my headset from my head I noticed that I was hearing something strange in my left ear , pulsatile, like the noise of the jedi's sword. When I awoke up, the noise was gone so I continued to use the headsets for long periods of time, watching movies and things like that, can't remember if was too loud, maybe it was...I heard the pulsatile sound in left ear more two times in between, than I started noticing some changes in my hearing like some sound distortion in certain frequencies while listening to some musics, water tap, computer fans, refrigerators, etc. Seems like an echo superimposed to the real sound, sounding like morse code. At the beginning my ears were very sensitive, but about that, they're getting better.
I went to various ENT's and did an audiogram, tympanography, spech recognition and ART, all were considered normal and in some cases above normal for the age (between 0-10 db). First I was not able to notice any form of tinnitus, just the distortion, but since 3 weeks ago, after catching a cold, my both ears started ringing even tought I haven't been exposed to loud noises. It sounds like an old TV turned on with the sound off, it's worst on the left ear. Right now I'm waiting for na appoitment with na otoneurologist, because ENTs don't now want to do! My T is most noticible when I'm in a quiet environment.

I never knew that using headsets could bring something this bad. But my concern right know is why do I have Tinnitus and some distortion when I have a normal audiogram?

I suppose that since no one really knows what excactly causes T it is hard to say:( Could be a variety of factors. If it was easy to make sure what it came from we would already have better cures for it...

Has anyone tried to get an MRI scan done, are doctors really serious about it? I consulted a very good ENT specialist, although she could nicely explain how vertigo works yet she didn't seem to have much answer or able to chat about Tinnitus except she mentioned there is no treatment.

I'm seriously considering getting an CT/MRI scan done soon to find out if there is any tumor which i don't think could be the case, also since doctors also say it could be caused due to Jaw alignment which in my case could be true because of the jaw sort of not near normal due to the posture the molar teeth grown is not close to straightso when i close my jaw it sits like left to right slightly.

Lastly this is the bloodiest thing that could happen to anyone, its like a punishment to the undeserving victims, I never went to concerts, never listened to loud music, rarely made habit of listening through headphones on ipod regularly.

Sure you could try and MRI scan:) Couldnt hurt. I think it tends to be loud there though so maybe consider wearing plugs while your in. Also, you can consider visiting a dentist or even better - a face surgeon who probably knows about TMJ.

I am with you man! Same with me, never did anything that would have caused my T! Just appeared one day. But learning to live with it.

I did have an MRI early on in my journey with T. It was a weird experience in that I actually wanted them to find a brain tumor or something, so that they could remove it or treat it and relieve my T! Who actually WANTS a brain tumor!?? Crazy! But I guess the good news is I found out I don't have a brain tumor  !

You may want to pursue it though, never know, they may find something to help you. And there really is no downside other than $$$. Good luck! I hope you find some relief!!
