      Hi

I have only had tinnitus and now hyperacusis for a couple of weeks. I woke up this morning (after a couple of hours of broken sleep and none the night before) and my tinnitus was actually the quietest it's been since onset. I was able to sit a quiet room and tried to meditate on it (trying to help habituation along) for a short period of time.

It is now 4:40 pm and it ramped up a couple of times today to almost siren level. I didn't eat anything today aside from an apple and drank water and green tea. It seems to also worsen in the evening.

Does anyone else experience this and does it settle down to a more constant level?

Also, as newbie, does one post a question when you have one or do you post to threads that may be a few years old. As soon as I typed in my title, some previous posts came up that also touched on this subject.

      Hope everyone is well today.

Probably noise, stress and a neck injury.
I've read that for many tinnitus can fluctuate a lot, especially in the early stages. Mine does it too. Volume differs, as does number of sounds/type of sounds. It's frustrating but I don't have any known triggers. Food, noise etc don't make a difference, so it's either just my brain or posture/muscle related.
I think staff takes care of this when necessary and it's better addressed to them :)

      HI @LindaS

It would help to know what might have caused the onset of your tinnitus. Are you are regular user of headphones, earbuds or where a headset? If the answer is yes to any of these questions then your tinnitus could have been caused by headphones.

Try to avoid quiet rooms as you have been doing as it's not always a good idea. Better to have some low levels sound enrichment as music during the day. At night use nature sounds played at low level by your bedside. Please click on the links below and read my posts. There I explain the benefits of using sound enrichment and to try and avoid quiet rooms and surroundings especially at night. I advise not to use headphones for now especially if they caused the tinnitus onset.

When you have a specific question you can start a new thread as you have done. If you are going to post on another members thread, then try to keep the contents of what you've written along the same theme as the author who started the thread.

      All the best
      Michael

      Hello ASilverLight

I agree with you on posture/muscle related but not sure which one comes first.....being in a bad posture or tensing of the body when levels are louder which only makes it worse.

I see you are fairly new to this as well. Have you had any days where it was fairly consistent (hopefully good days)?

      Hello Michael

Thank you for the links and suggestions. Your articles are very well written and full of helpful information.
Really appreciate you taking the time to share your knowledge. This forum would not be the same without you.

I do believe my T & H is noise induced. I used to listening to music through ear buds every night for a period of weeks and frequently would fall asleep with them still in. (the volume was not loud). However, I frequently cranked up music in the car over the years. And, I have used a hairdryer close to my ears almost every day for at least 45 years (not sure if this is a contributing factor). :thankyousign:

Thank you for your kind comments @LindaS they are much appreciated. I have written more articles primarily on how to incorporate positivity into you life, as tinnitus can be difficult to manage in the early stages. Please find those articles in the links below, and take your time to read them and I suggest refer to them often. This will help to reinforce positive thinking.

If you feel I might be able to help you further please do not hesitate to ask.
      All the best
