What Is "Refractory Tinnitus"?

      Cause of Tinnitus:
      Acoustic Trauma
      I keep seeing the term "refractory tinnitus" in medical papers. Is it simply a fancy way of saying "tinnitus", or is there more to it?

      The medical dictionary says refractory means "difficult to treat or cure."
