I think it's going be a few treatments and not one that fits all.
Tablets ,stem cell,hearing aids ,and I'm sure a few more will come along .
The more tinnitus is promoted as a serious problem then something might get done with funding for research .
If they think everyone Habituated to their tinnitus then they need to know the constant mental torture people go through is a living Hell.

Hair cell regeneration by far the most interesting. Especially coz I have some hearing loss

Hair cell and synapse regeneration. I hope that if we can treat what is the cause of tinnitus for many people we may be able to diminish or eliminate tinnitus. There is of course the risk that we can regenerate someone's hearing and they can still be left with tinnitus. But I look forward to seeing anything that resembles some form of progress.

I'm excited about the whole field, to be honest Breakthroughs hardly ever happen because one person worked on something in isolation for years, they happen because knowledge is shared and collectively pieces of the puzzle are formed and put into place. There may be one lab which reaches the finish line first due to a good initial intuition, but it's all one big effort, in a way.

I didn't think I would see eye to eye with you but I fully agree here. The first step is awareness.

I originally was pretty enthused about transcranial magnetic stimulation, or vagus nerve stimulation. But don't see much going on there any more. UT Dallas did a small vagus nerve trial a few years ago and supposedly got some good results, but it wasn't enough to build hopes on.

Stem cells for hair regeneration, maybe. But its a long, long way to the finish line.
For now, I would settle for better management techniques.

I would to see an antibiotic heavy duty like the one they use for Lyme's due to I think it is blood veins in the brain and it transmit thru the ear. Somehow blood vessel got damaged. But this is just my thought.
