Cause of Tinnitus
Acoustic trauma (go-kart racing)
Why the hell can some people go to festivals that plays music on a 94-100 dB volume. Some even go to two festivals during summer and the festivals last for two days.

I went to go kart racing field and got my tinnitus there. I was driving just for 10 minutes. It is not fair. I have only went to two gigs in my whole life and at these both concerts I used earplugs.

So can someone tell me why did I get tinnitus from driving a go kart for 10 minutes and people who attend two festivals in the summer that last for 4 hours and don't even wear earplugs don't get tinnitus?

Most people can do things like that and they get "normal" hearing loss, not severe tinnitus. Tinnitus is an exception, not a rule. Why? I don't thing we really know.

I wish i had a reason and an answer. I use to think like this at times and it was the bitter side of me that thought this. I use to think that I am a loving person , caring and do so much good in the world and why I have tinnitus and WHY some rotten people, who careless for others and lack empathy don't. Thinking this way or just being bitter really changes nothing. All it does is, that it stays in our heads and lives in our heads.

This negativity living in our heads, really does no good for our lives and our future. My brother and his wife go to heavy metal concerts and never use ear plugs and they sit in the front row. Some are just lucky to escape tinnitus, from going to such LOUD places.

Again, there is no clear explanation WHY, they don't get it, but do understand that being angry or bitter about this, really doesn't help the LIFE...U and I face on a daily basis. Do you best in your LIFE, to love yourself, protect your hearing and help people that are less fortunate than yourself.

Even with my poor hearing, I still do charity work and feed and help those that are less fortunate than I am. In this life we SHOULD pay it forward and love/care for those that need help.

Have a nice day :)

I suspect you would have gotten T, even if you didn't went karting. It's not always related to sound, and sometimes a piece of straw is all that's needed to break camels back, guess your "back" had some "defects" from the start. What I am saying is, don't beat yourself over it, see it as a disorder you've always had..

There is a lot of things you did without consequences that hurt other people. You don't know about it...

You got T, it sucks, but life is unfair.

I knew about T but that doesn't mean that you think you'll get it.

If you frequently go to concerts and listen to loud music with earphones you'll eventually get T. However, I think most people don't notice their T or make a big thing off it. Maybe they notice it at bedtime but for some reason can ignore it or not make a big thing off it. I wouldn't be surprised if there are a lot of people with T that either hasn't noticed it, or simply dont give a flying fuck.

I know a sound-engineer with T and he doesn't care. He does protect himself but he's at concerts daily..

I don't know why but it's the same way in animal studies on acoustic trauma. Some people are just more susceptible than others, to both auditory system damage and tinnitus.

Exactly. That's why T and H are pretty much a lost cause !

Yep, imagine what would be if 90% cases of cancer would go away on their own, or reduce to a point where it's a minor problem. Would anyone care?

> XYZ, got cancer.
> Oh god, he's so lucky. What if he got tinnitus.

But I have not gone to any loud places besides these two concerts. And when I went go karting my ears did not feel full, the ringing just started. Not fair

Because your ears are more susceptible. Why are they more susceptible, though? Could be bad genes. Or a bad reaction to an ototoxic medicine. Who knows.

Why do some people get lung cancer when they don't smoke at all (and only exposed to secondhand smoke at times) while others can go through a pack a day for years and never get it? It is what is.

Why do some people get cancer and some don't? Apart from that .. I believe at one point most people get a Tinnitus if their stress their ears too much . ..

As long we do not know what Tinnitus is, how can we know how to prevent it, and why we get it ..

And actually for noise inducted we do .. protect your ears :) ..
