I have noticed that muffs seem to create decibels when exposed to wind because they are not streamlined. Or maybe they create an echo?

I'm looking for some scientific evidence on this as I have hyperacusis and want to safely drive my small motorbike, I went down a hill with engine off and db is identical as with engine on, so wind is the culprit as indicated by research.

So the question is, do muffs generate decibels through turbulence? Would plugs with streamlined helmet be better?

It is just the noise of the wind hitting on earmuffs. You will notice the same effect if you wear headphones with music; the wind will be bothersome and you will hear it.

I'm interested. I'm looking for the best solution to protect my ears from the wind noise when I'm paragliding.

It's not very loud, but loud enough to bother me because of H and spike T.

wind sound is high frequency so plugs will work well, maybe better than muffs

I would wear both muffs and earplugs. Earplugs will help protect you more from wind (high Hz) but not as much as muffs can protect you from lower Hz.
