Tinnitus... Did You All Get Panic/Anxiety When It First Hit?

Typically, I don't suffer from anxiety, but when my T first started, I was scared and panicky. I still have bad days, but I try to stay calm and hopeful.

    Variability of Your Tinnitus

I wish I could figure out a way to manage it better. Right now, it's stuck on high.

    Variability of Your Tinnitus

I know tinnitus affects each of us differently, but I notice how variable my tinnitus is from day to day and I wondered whether others experience this. My tinnitus usually is high-pitched, but some days it's a lower pitch. Sometimes the noise clearly is focused in my left ear, other times I...

Tinnitus Emergency — What Can Be Done in an Emergency, When It Comes too Loud to Tolerate?

Thanks for posting the violet noise. I'm sitting in my office on my lunch break, so I thought I'd give it a listen. It definitely masked the high pitch tone I hear.

High Blood Pressure Medication That Does Not Increase Tinnitus

I've been taking Losartan (the generic version of Cozaar) for several years. I have no idea what triggered my T; I didn't realize that blood pressure drugs could be the culprit. Is it possible that this side effect could develop after a few years of taking a medication, or is it more likely...

At the End of the Day It Is all About Time, Isn't It?

I hope someday the researchers and doctors figure out how to help us so that we don't have to wait to habituate.

    Ear Wax Removal

Thank you for the advice! I'll proceed cautiously. So far, the ear wax removal hasn't stopped the T in my left ear, but I can ignore it most of the time. My doctor also gave me a prescription for Prednisone; it's just five tablet so I'm not sure if it's enough to help. If it continues, I...

    Ear Wax Removal

Thank you. I did a search and saw that many people have had problems with irrigation. I'll take your advice an avoid it for now. I've also read that hydrogen peroxide can help speed the process. Any cautions about trying this method?

    Ear Wax Removal

I went to the doctor's today, and sure enough, I had a lot of wax in my left ear, which is where the tinnitus seems worse. I had already tried softening it myself a few times, so she was able to scrape most of it out. She told me that there's another chunk in there that she couldn't scrape out...

    Reminder to Self--Don't Minimize!

I just scheduled a visit to my primary care provider to talk about my tinnitus. Of course, today the ringing seem less pronounced. Placebo effect? My ears still feel clogged up, though. I have a tendency to minimize my symptoms, and, like most medical professionals, she doesn't get too...

Felt Like I Really Messed Up

I'm new to this site and to tinnitus, but from everything I've read here, I suspect your spike will be temporary. The best advice I keep reading here is "don't panic."

    Ear Feels Clogged

I recently developed tinnitus; it's especially noticeable in my left ear. I've had a problem with earwax in the past, so I decided to try to clear it out on my own. I bought an OTC earwax softener kit, which included a sterile saline spray to use in your ear after the wax was softened...

Hi Everyone, I've been suffering from tinnitus (self-diagnosed, at this point) for a few weeks; no idea what triggered it. I plan to make an appointment with my doctor next week and hope to get a referral to a good ENT. In the meantime, I'm happy to have found this site. Reading through the...
