Don't miss the opportunity to attend Tinnitus Quest's online Q&A with Dr. Susan Shore and Jon Pearson, CEO of Auricle on October 13. We will hear the latest about the Susan Shore Device.
That's a extreme case buddy, it's like everything in life, you have chronic people but then you can also check all the success story. My advice is to check sucess and positive stories, doesn't do any good watching all the negative ones.
@GCS You asked, so here's my answer; there likely aren't any limit to volume and tones, which is horrifying. The most severe case of tinnitus and noxacusis I've ever heard, from Sweden too, worsen their tinnitus permanently by a whisper, and the volume has reached beyond loud train brakes squealing. They're understandibly applying for VAD.
Maybe there's a limit, when "all the neurons" are excited or something, but I think that would exceed that which is survivable by far.
But don't worry, you'll absolutely most likely not end up there, especially if you stop fooling around and take care of your ears. That's why you err on the side of caution, because worsening this is the absolutely last thing you'd want.
I somehow have a brother and a step father with tinnitus and of course me , guess who is only one on forums. Apparently they also have their bad days with it but it's not as always catastrophic or worse case scenario. We do what we can and we "climb that bridge" if we ever get to it.
@Stacken77 even tho I tsk tsk auditorially abusive listening habits, I can't lie part of me thinks of loud music as a luxury. One I can't afford anymore apparently lol. Oh to be ignorant and blissful and having the best tunes
@Shelbylynn I agree that there's something special about loud music. Many times I turned the volume up to 11 while driving and just immersed myself in the moment. Those days were just pure bliss...
@Shelbylynn@Stacken77 I liked to blast music too but I would say not ear wrecking levels. I just needed a 40 min ride + frustrated mood + the idea to blast music to out my frustration and with these ingredients I got T
@Wrfortiscue With plugs and or muffs you should, theoretically, be safe. I don't know if I personally would do it, even if I made a great recovery. Say that the road noise is 80 dB, and the musics dB's are added on top of that. You better not turn that volume up to 11 lol
@Wrfortiscue i listen to music too loud in my car. Sometimes I have to remind myself to turn in down a few notches. I wear ear plugs though, obviously. I can't live without my music.
