I can adapt to tinnitus, but with severe hearing loss is I didn't expect to get, will the second shot save me or no effect? Despite 3-week onset, will there be improvement despite my odds is 1/3? What if I live like this forever? What if it really does work? If it really does work, I hope I can...

I’m worried that the vibrations from the drilling will be damaging, as the tooth requiring the root canal is near the back of the mouth, very close to the ears. I have stopped using an electric toothbrush as it was triggering my tinnitus, so I guess continual drilling would be likely to have a...

@Cmspgran been reading about migraine-spectrum central sensitization today. I must admit I find it hard to read and concentrate when it's bad. Do you? This is of interest to me, more for the hyperacusis, because anything over 80db for more than a few minutes, and I'm thrown into a setback...

I actually have a theory about this. If the device truly works, consider the lived experience of Group 1 (active treatment first) and Group 2 (sham treatment first) during this period. If the device is effective, Group 1 experiences improvement while Group 2 does not during the first six...

Struggling with Tinnitus and Hyperacusis: Why Are Audiologists So Misinformed?

I’m curious about these tests myself. I’m tired of hearing about them from doctors. In my experience, the tests are unreliable and harmful to the patient in every way. The results often show that everything is fine when, in reality, it’s not. They end up blaming it on the psyche, confusing...

Look into laser root canal. Talk to your dentist about whether he can do that, or shop around for one who can. Also, keep in mind that the suction thing they use for saliva is also incredibly loud. Maybe ask if they can avoid using that as well.

Struggling with Tinnitus and Hyperacusis: Why Are Audiologists So Misinformed?

Even with perfect earplugs, a 110 dB sound will still feel like about 100 to 105 dB at low frequencies and about 80 to 90 dB in the midrange because of bone conduction. You cannot block more than about 50-60% of perceived loudness with earplugs alone, as bone conduction still prevails...
