TracyJS, no, you will not get the tinnitus worse because of this, the only problem is that person does not know how to do acupuncture. As has been said, you do not feel pain when it is well done.That's exactly what Wolfears said.

I've had some tinnitus but mostly TMJ symptoms from clenching my jaw at night - serious neck tension and head pain. Have tried many things: chiro, massage, acupuncture, supplements, and a mouth guard. Saw that Cerezen was discontinued in the U.S.

What about the LLLT offered in "normal" ENT clinics? With ENT's working there? It's always offered as alternative treatment, so they might have some success, even if it's placebo...maybe it's the same,as somebody says, go take acupuncture.

I also tried acupuncture from a Chinese traditional medicine guy where he hooked up the zapper, as I call it lol, but only did 2 sessions. Maybe I should do more and keep trying. Think I might make an apt tomorrow.

Acupuncture to T is a joke. They keep treating for gastrointestinal problems. May be 1000 years ago, T could have been for such issues, but today it is nothing but a joke. Sadly this doesn't come with a money-back guarantee.

I've tried acupuncture, too. For me, the tinnitus stayed the same (no change), but it was soothing and calming. It might be worthwhile just for that alone. Since he has Meniere's, it might help with his balance, etc. Best wishes, Karen

For therapy I have taken ginkgo biloba daily, 120 mg, avoid salt and caffeine as much as possible, work out doing cardio almost daily. As stated above, I have had 3 sessions of acupuncture but Im not confident about the results.

@antonio77: The fact that the acupuncturist elicited or aggravated your symptoms suggests that he hit a trigger point responsible for your symptoms at least in part. I think this is very encouraging and you should try acupuncture again or Trigger Point therapy (manual therapy).

I have seen 3 acupuncturists. None have helped. It actually made it spike more with the 1st. Same with Cranial Sacral Therapy, tried 2 therapists. These were covered under my plan. I did stay with the 3rd who I call the "Chi Master". I get a 2 hour acupuncture & cupping. I do find it relaxing.

Thanks for the tip about violet noise. I live in China and went to see an acupuncturist. They admitted the changes would be slight and take time. In all, they seemed to indicate acupuncture is of small but limited use. But if it helps, go for it.

@Lane I had been to acupuncture right after my tinnitus onset. However I didn't have hyperaucis at that time, maybe very mild hyperacusis but nothing serious. I didn't have any improvement on my tinnitus. But maybe it can help hyperacusis. For how long have you been pain free?

To be more topical, I signed up for SimplyBetter, and I'm not very impressed with it, looks like pseudoscience bullshit to me (which doesn't mean it might not be helpful to certain people for certain things... but so is homeopathy and reiki and acupuncture).

Good luck hope it goes well for you, I have had 3 acupuncture treatments for T, it has helped with sleep and anxiety. Very expensive here and my insurance does not help defer the cost. Will need to find other methods to control my stress.

Yes, I think it has diminished. I'm not so bothered by it during the day any more. It's in the evening that I have the worst problems. I'm not giving up, though! Will continue using the UST daily, taking vitamins and herbs, acupuncture, etc.

To my understanding, yes, that is somatic. Someone please correct me if that's not right. Acupuncture, massage, etc does nothing.
