I have been suffering with fairly severe tinnitus in my right ear for six months, and doctors and an ENT specialist have not been able to help.

I started looking for other help, and found a clinic in my area that specialises in tinnitus, and they mentioned Acoustic CR Neuromodulation Therapy, but they are not taking bookings due to COVID-19. I then searched for other clinics offering this, when I came across Tinnitus Talk and generalfuzz's site/app.

I tried their app, and found immediate relief! I've only done it for an hour for two days now, so the tinnitus comes back, but still - to have relief for just an hour a day has been immense. I think it's been the first time I felt relaxed in 6 months. Thank you for the info on here, and to generalfuzz for making the app.

I'll continue to use it everyday, and see if there is a 'permanent' improvement.

Ear doctor inserted a loud suction device in my right ear
I have had tinnitus for a month now. It happened because an ear/throat doctor decided to check a little injury I did to my external canal using a q-tip. She decided to use a loud suction device to remove the scab. That was totally unnecessary and my life has been a nightmare ever since.

My tinnitus seems to be at 10,548 Hz. Could someone generate the CR Neuromodulation MP3 for me?

      Thank you!

This is an old thread but I wanted to comment to echo this advice. I stumbled upon the ACRN reference in another thread without instructions. So I went to the website and tried quickly to create a tone, which I had never done before. I very briefly listened to the range of frequencies, up to the highest pitch (medium volume). I was also outdoors on my patio with a loud fan running at the time. I had no idea I needed to be cautious (and really think a warning should be placed on the website).

Anyway, I created the sound that seemed equal to my tinnitus (again hard to catch because I wasn't in a silent room). Then I created the sequence and listened for maybe 5 seconds. The entire episode took maybe 15 seconds.

Now my tinnitus has spiked terribly, to a higher pitch than I've ever heard, within 5 minutes. I was already not sleeping and dealing with a few spikes recently caused by medication. I really, really, really wish I hadn't tried this. Now I'm praying this goes back down to my previous already spike, and doesn't further interfere with my sleep (which hasn't been good lately but has been steadily improving).

I gather lots of people have had good results. But I still really wish there had been a warning on the page. I never would have tried anything with even the most remote chance of spiking my tinnitus.

Treatment Tone Spacing and Acute Effects of Acoustic Coordinated Reset Stimulation in Tinnitus Patients

The more I read the more hopeful I become. There are great strides being made with regards to hearing disorders; bimodal stimulation, neuromodulation, electrical stimulation, pharmacological intervention; there are many possible cures and treatments on the near horizon and this article is no exception. I will not post the whole thing but just state what it shows...

modifying the spacing of tones during acoustic Coordinated Reset therapy may optimize clinical benefit to individuals suffering from tinnitus.

@generalfuzz; if you're out there, can you adjust your wonderful app?!

      Hey @OptimusPrimed,

It’s ironic that I’ve come across your thread because this is exactly the only “therapy” that has been helping me cope with my High Frequency Reactive Tinnitus moment to moment. I found a video that spaces the tones out around 30 seconds each which I’ve found very helpful in giving me minutes at a time of residual inhibition or lowered tone (more like a hiss)

In your opinion, do you see a treatment happening this year? I feel like Susan Shore’s device is all we have after crisscrossing the research threads. Just looking for an honest answer and some hope mixed in as it seems funding etc is drying up for other avenues that it seems everyone was hopeful for here on Tinnitus Talk. Thanks!

Are there any audio/sound engineers interested in revamping or helping with this?

I wanted to share with you a somewhat nice trick. My tinnitus is at 10.5 kHz, so it is beyond the 10 kHz range for this to work properly for the reason that the highest tone would be 14,674 kHz. That is generally too high and the tone would suffer a lot of attenuation to be heard in comparison to the lower ones. I think this is the reason why you can't go beyond 10 kHz as this hearing loss on high frequencies is the normal for all human beings.

I solved this problem, using a very simple Chrome extension equalizer, where I amped the highest band and lowered the other bands so that all the tones sound roughly the same volume in my ears (just hearable).

      I found the extension here:

      https://chrome.google.com/webstore/...e-brow/abikfbojmghmfjdjlbagiamkinbmbaic?hl=en

And here is a screenshot of how I did it:

It works for me and I am finding some relief with the ACRN protocol.
