I don't blame you for leaving, @brownbear. Apologies for those here who sometimes let their own unhappiness get in the way of common sense and empathy.

Have no idea if you're even still around but if you are: please read back to my post on this thread. An ENT was one of the most inspirational people I've met on my T journey.

I am glad you are doing better -- I also did CBT and found it tremendously helpful for tinnitus and life in general. Not giving a #@*$, like acceptance, is a building block for habituation. I wish you well and hope you will indeed go on and live your life. As you said, you'll regret it otherwise.

That is amazing , you are seriously getting pleasure from another persons misfortune , in this case T , when in fact you know how that can ruin a persons life ? What are you even doing here on this "support forum" ?

@brownbear glad to hear of your progress, have very similar symptoms to yours, hope I can get there too...I imagine being a doctor you are busy, engaged...my office jobs makes it easier for me to start ruminating over the t, plus it's so quiet...maskers are starting to have drawbacks.

      Encouraged by your story...

@brownbear we're not all shitheads on this forum.

Some people here are dense enough to think that ENT's have a secret Bilderberg meeting once a year to discuss how to keep them suffering so they can "profit" with hearing aids. Just ignore them. They don't understand how medicine or business works.

I truly hope you're feeling better soon.

@brownbear , thank you for your reply
I guess we both need to habituate
Its very difficult to do, and I really don't have any more anxiety, I am just annoyed.
The last few days I noted no minimal hypercusis, no dizziness but persistent T and significant hearing loss
      keep me posted

      Thanks for clarifying, @brownbear
The confusion, I believe, came from your sentence:
...where it wasn't clear that you were specific about your own hydrops case.

In some ways I feel relieved, as it would have been very upsetting to know an ear surgeon had so little knowledge about tinnitus and related pathologies. It did feel a bit incredible to me, but then again, as attested by many posts on this very forum, a common response from the ENT professional & medial field is often a hand wave and "get used to it", so it was plausible.

I'm sorry that you aren't getting better. If I were you I wouldn't give up quite yet. The medical process here (US) is a bit rigid, in the sense that if there isn't a strong proof that something works, it's not proposed by doctors and isn't vetted by the FDA. But there are some things that work for some people.
As an ear surgeon, you are a wealth of knowledge that you can apply to your own case. If you aren't afraid of trying things, then you are in the best position to figure out the risk/reward proposition for a trial and error process.

At any rate, I hope you don't give up. If we sufferers give up, why should we expect that others will keep the fight to find a solution for us?

I hope you reconsider as you are a rare window for us into the life of an expert who is unfortunately suffering from an affliction that he is in the best position to debug. There's a lot to learn from you.

I hope you find relief soon.

      Regards.

Yeah that's the emotion that I'm feeling. Like I said I don't feel good about it but it's the feeling I get. We can't control our thoughts, but we can control how we react to them. It's like when you first see someone and you instantly feel or don't feel physically attracted to them, like a gut response. Can't be blamed for that. So yeah...

He himself said he was baffled by how random his tinnitus was. There's nothing he knows that we haven't researched to death.

I see what you are saying and in some sense you are correct , however you obviously have a choice in expressing that feeling or not. In this case , expressing that is not helpful at all and in fact might make another T sufferer feel unwelcome here. Also , you might want to examine why you feel like that ,it's kind of not normal , so there's that.

We can't control our thoughts, but we can control how we react to them.

Don't want to beat ya up, @The Red Viper: But yeah, you hit the nail on the head. Part of becoming a grown up is learning that you don't say everything you're feeling. It doesn't have anything to do with honesty. Also, we all make mistakes and hurt people with our words when we really don't mean to. But grown ups apologize.

If this seems to be an ongoing problem, might want to look at what's going on, as @RaZaH suggests.

@LadyDi You're right, perhaps being honest was not the most appropriate thing. @brownbear, I'm sorry for what I said. I think seeing an ENT with T filled me with satisfaction (in a bad way).

It is amazing how much is incopetence your brand of medicine! ENT doctor weren't even able to have cure line guide how to treat T caused by different reason! They just mix all up. You will probably suffer for your category neglicence

I think specialization in medicine is great, but it has the unintended consequence of forgetting about the whole person. I saw two ENTs, and told each of them that in addition to ear fullness and tinnitus, I had pain in the base of my skull and headaches. Both of them said "I don't treat headaches." It was as if they thought nothing was connected, when I knew full well that all of my symptoms came together.

This is extremely hypocritical of you. We had a person come to this forum looking for help and support, explain their background and offer us their unique perspective (as everyone's is), and you felt pleasure at their pain due to their profession, entirely disregarding they are their own person with very real feelings? If you had any semblance of empathy you would understand that your asinine comments have no place here.

We are a community founded on pain, every single one of us is here because we have suffered to the point of reaching out for another to talk to. Although there is an indisputable irony to this topic (as noted by the author), it should never manifest itself as negativity towards another.

@brownbear I hope you find the support and comfort you need, if not here, then somewhere else.
