Well, first of all there is a difference between "helps" and "cures". Of course, maybe in some cases, it does, and I'm glad it did for Danny Boy, but until now, research seem to consider it doesn't work any better than a placebo (and the failure of AUT63 is just about that).
He doesn't believe much in the AM101 approach either, he said the gel was very slimy, that it was particularly difficult to inject it, and that when people were asked if they wanted to continue with the study most of them refused.

Yes, I definitely agree no one has been cured. Off the top of my head, I can't think of too many ailments that have been cured, like polio. A treatment is the best I'm hoping for. Keppra works great for me, as the reactive is what bothers me most, and Keppra stops it.

I can't believe this wasn't / isn't all over the news?! If this can't get airplay, just imagine how important the media thinks T is!

To be honest I don't care how important the media thinks T is as long as the scientist do that's good enough for me !

So this was just wishful thinking what a surprise. It will take a long time before there will be a cure because there needs to be so much more knowledge than there is today.

There are however some real science on how you can get used to the tinnitus by accepting it.

Knowledge isn't always necessary. We discovered antibiotics by chance and at the time it wasn't known how it worked or why it worked. The important thing was that it DID WORK. We actually still don't know how aspirin really works and it's been around for almost 100 years. It's still pretty good when you have a headache though.

OMG! I few months back I tried to get onto the trial but was rejected because my hearing was normal. I've just received a voice mail from the research department at the Royal National Ear Nose and Throat Hosital asking me to contact them!!!!

Well, people have spontaneously resolved, but that doesn't count as a cure I suppose...

Why shouldn't it? And who exactly is cured? After 1 year? 2 years? Did they take any treatment? The specifics are important...

Indeed they are important but I don't know them. I just hear of people who spontaneously got better.

I don't think they will stop their research. They might fail with the trial in US as well but that doesn't mean that they will shut down their business.

Fast forward a year from now and I doubt that Autifony Therapeutics will still exist. To my knowledge, Autifony Therapeutics does not have in-house research and so any further research will involve collaboration with an outside entity. I therefore do not think that we are likely to see"AUT00063 version 2.0" just around the corner.

Early stage research is unlikely to be undertaken (= financed) by a small pharma company. And even if Autifony Therapeutics did undertake such research, it would be a while before the fruits of such research could be harvested.

The above is, of course, just my opinion. Rather than speculating, asking Autifony Therapeutics for a statement would be the correct approach - although any response would probably be limited. I will, however, have to leave the liaison between TT and Autifony Therapeutics to someone else...
