Had some forceful coughing last few days (not COVD-19, just some reflux). After some particularly forceful coughing, my less affected ear now has fullness, pressure, itching, pain, and a little tinnitus.

A bit terrified that I gave myself barotrauma to my good ear.

Anybody ever experience this and recover / not recover? searched here on the boards but can't find much correlation between coughing and tinnitus, although I don't see why forceful coughing wouldn't cause tinnitus, as pressure can probably overload the eustachian tubes...

Yes, unfortunately this is how I developed a low humming Tinnitus on my right ear. I'd recommend seeing a ENT and possibly asking for some oral steroids and or steroid injection. Try your best to avoid coughing! Eat some garlic and take magnesium.

Most tinnitus spikes are temporary spikes. Despite Omar's horrible experience, I wouldn't worry about it unless it doesn't begin fading after 4-6 weeks. But of course you might want to try steroids...

Any random trigger can cause tinnitus if one is unlucky enough. If you follow this forum then you will see many people ending up here by simple acts of living.
