Hi,
Since 1.5 months I've had mild tinnitus after going to a party with very loud techno music. After my most depressed days ever I have luckily managed to habituate to it.

I really love going to parties/festivals, but I am really scared that my tinnitus will get worse due to partying. I am really wondering about people's experiences here regarding to partying & tinnitus. Will I still be able to go to parties ever again when wearing really good ear plugs? Or will it get noticeably worse every party? Will I be fine when being really careful?

Thanks a lot for everyone answering my questions, it means a lot.

Noise induced tinnitus is not something to take lightly. Even if you are careful and use noise reducing earplugs, if external sound is loud enough it can still reach your inner ear by bone conduction. This is when sound will pass through your skull and will be transferred to your inner ear. By all means go out and have a nice time but be careful of being exposed to loud sounds. PS: My advice is not to use headphones even at low volume.

You will find answers from people saying don't go and people that say do go. I have been to some concerts with musicians ear plugs and have been fine. Don't stand/sit near the speakers though!

I mean... that's kind of your choice to make. You now know that loud noise can make your tinnitus worse - if you still want to go, then I'm not sure what to tell you. Seems like a very obvious choice to me - a hobby vs. a horrible sound in your head for the rest of your life.
