Deactivating Automotive Airbags

That was the past now is the present and tomorrow the future. Believe in yourself and you will improve in time. It doesn't happen overnight....
What you are saying makes sense. But keep in mind that the best way to predict future performance is to look at the past performance... As they say, "a pessimist is an experienced optimist." I am sorry about not being positive, but my excuse is that I am not a very positive person (as you can see by looking at my avatar).

I have counselled many negative people with tinnitus @Bill Bauer and they managed to turn their life around. Please read my document in my article: Tinnitus, A Personal View. It is titled: Life is Problematic. I counselled a Maths teacher. You won't get more negative than that.

I am put off from buying a new car because there are airbags in nearly every part of the vehicle these days. I wish they were optional, as I would rather take my chances with just a seat belt.

Multiple airbags can produce up to 178 decibels of sound in a confined space. That is louder than standing next to a jet taking off. Even though the noise is brief, several studies have unsurprisingly shown that hearing loss, hyperacusis, and tinnitus can be side effects.

This is a real problem for me. With already severe tinnitus, airbag deployment could have horrific consequences. It is a genuine concern. Young people and children are also at risk, especially with modern cars containing as many as 10 airbags and no apparent effort to reduce the noise they produce.

Frankly, I find it frustrating. Why not use a harness system, like in racing cars, to strap people in safely? Instead, we fill cars with explosive devices.

Is anyone else bothered by the fact that we have no choice when it comes to airbags, and that there are no efforts to develop quieter alternatives? As usual, hearing loss and tinnitus are not treated as serious conditions, so nothing gets done.

Sorry for the rant.
