Hi all! I joined the site because I really just need to vent.

Have tinnitus-this horrible, constant RINGING in my right ear- since May this year. I'm honestly surprised that no around me can hear it too! It's sooo loud to me.

Been a teeth grinder for years, had dental work and bad bite as a result, have TMJ, anxiety/stress, bad mattress and pillow, and probably too many loud concerts years ago. Nights are the worst, seems like a common thread for people on this site.

Uuuugh the house gets quiet, I want to sleep so bad but the RINGING is at full blast at night.

I'm glad I found this forum-feel some relief just venting and knowing I'm not alone.

Trying all these remedies, but will try just drowning it with the masking album and just letting it be.

Next post probably at bedtime-I'll be up.

Thanks for listening--Lisa

@Lisa Scherff ,
Welcometo Tinnitus Talk,
Your definitely not going mad it's the unwanted emotions and lack of sleep tinnitus can bring.

At night try listening to music through pillow speakers and keep the sound bellow your tinnitus.
Your brain will work hard to focus on the sound you have chosen and learn not to focus on your tinnitus.

If you still carn't sleep then Melatonin can help you.
See your dentist about a mouth guard to wear over your lower teeth at night and it will ease pressure off your jaw joint if have TMJ.

love glynis

TMD is known to cause tinnitus via trigeminal nerve being under pressure causing hyper excitivity the auditory brain.

if the TMD is corrected and you dont have hearing loss it might go away or fade significant.

tbh if loud concerts are a factor them hearing loss would mean the tinnitus would not go away completely but you could probably get some relief corrected the TMD/TMJ issues.
