After years of tolerable tinnitus it started to get worse and worse the last couple of years. The past week the overall sound and noise level has gotten worse and is now intolerable. Waiting for the MuteButton but if that is no help I will be talking to my family and eventually make plans to visit Switzerland after saving money. I gave myself until 40 years old and it deems that this prediction was right. Unfortunately I am one of the few who may not make it through life.

I have had thoughts of going to Switzerland on and off for about 6 months now but now a normal and enjoyable life is over.

I am just venting and I don't want a pity party, I am just trying to show that for some life is hell.

You will be in for a disappointment.

Another Tinnitus Talk member tried the Dignitas route and they said they can't help him for only having tinnitus. They don't kill people with tinnitus at Dignitas.

Just to let you know, the full assisted suicide including cremation etc costs 10,500 Swiss Francs. It’s 7,500 if you want to handle the formal things yourself.

You’ll also need to be seen in person twice by one of the doctors they work with over the course of 3 months and join them; with costs 200 Francs as a joining fee and 80 Francs annual donation. It’s a very serious decision that will take a long time.

I’m really hoping Neuromod can help you.

Belgium is the only place that understand. They have several tinnitus patients euthanised each year and are fully aware of how utterly disturbing and horrendous it can get. You need to be European and become a resident and sign on with a doctor there to start the process.

Sorry to hear you're suffering. Me too, my last hope is on mutebutton, I think about throwing in the towel on an hourly basis let alone daily, I'm not sure how much more my family members can take it as it's all I talk about with them, I hope it's at least desensitizing them to the idea.

Assisted suicide should definitely be available but even so it takes such a long time to get through all the paperwork, I don't think I would have the energy to do it and luckily I don't have to. I have a lovely 80-meter waterfall nearby, very little chance of surviving that.

All I can say is let's keep positive and hope MuteButton will work.

This has to be a huge concern for Neuromod. A spate of suicidal failures just a few months after launch. Unfortunately there’s no avoiding it. You hype a product aimed at the most torturous affliction on earth and it doesn’t work for the most desperate..... It’s game over.

I do agree, but to their credit, they have had some caution with the hype. If you go on the patient's testimony page on their site, they all got some improvement, but only one proclaims for it to be totally gone.

Lol good one. Where shall I go for that? do they sale it in the local pharmacy? I hope it isn't more than a couple of hundred £s (sarcasm).

I work part time I can't afford to travel miles and splash out thousands.

Assisted seems a lot of work and a lot of money from what you guys are saying, I think I would just save the money to cover funeral costs and do it myself but maybe publicly in the City so other people can see and then it will be in the news and the reason behind it. Otherwise heres hope for mute button.

I don't talk about my thoughts to my family anymore as it's easier not to and just a burden to them.

All I can think of was the ****ing idiot who's car I was in had his music loud, it wasn't stupid loud but the base was vibrating my drums a bit, I had earplugs in although probably only reduced 5db soI am guesing I was hearing . I was in there for about 10 minutes only and the noise from teh speakers themselves felt a comfortable level with the plugs in so I hope it's just underlying stress, but the noise is pretty harsh in my ear now and loud where as ebfore is was loud but not like this.

@Julien87 It has gotten progressively worse over the past few years but it shot up another 25% since just over a week a go.

I hate to admit it, but I have thought about this a lot. If Neuromod is a failure, I think many people will take it as the final straw. Many people have expressed Neuromod being their last and final hope. I really hope something else like Susan Shore comes down the pipe sooner than later because we know that works from @kelpiemsp's experiences.

then how can you afford assisted suicide and travel thousands of miles? if you are really serious about this and you still want to live then you should be finding every means possible to afford a possible cure to save your life. find another job to work from home, study online to work a different career, start a go fund me. sell a damn kidney if you have to (no sarcasm) .

there are ways to fight back but if you don't have the will then im sorry to hear that and wish you luck in search for peace. but I hope you dig deep and fight back.

As I said it’s unavoidable. That’s not to blame Neuromod. It’s not their fault. They’re trying to help. And they are. Right now the hope they are offering is keeping people like me alive. But once it’s released that hope either turns to utter joy or the darkest despair.

No I am not crazy and most of those medications make tinnitus worse for people in the long run.

Some of those drugs can help you. Have you seen a therapist to help you cope? You may want to try this. This does NOT mean you can't be seeking Neuromod solutions or other stuff. It's just one path to help cope with the suicidal feelings.

No, therapy is not going to help with the T. It can help deal with the emotions that come from the suffering.

@gav01 Sorry I didn't mean to give the impression that you are crazy. The medications, etc is what help me cope when I thought all was lost. I attribute the help allowed me to adjust to my Tinnitus. That was 30 years ago and I am still here. I feared the medication at first. The meds help! It is well documented! G-d bless.

      I hate it so much.

Mine is screaming in my brain today.

I pity the poor souls before us who had nobody to communicate with, at least we can reach out and try and help each other on this forum. I am thankful for that.
