I recently had a head injury at work. I was hit in the back of the right ear, About 2 weeks after the accident, I started hearing a loud ringing in my left ear. Tried marijuana, it made it worse, causes anxiety. Anyone experience tinnitus after head injury?

Yep, concussion from car accident, almost two years ago. In my case, brain smacked against skull. I could feel it hit the top of my head during impact. My tinnitus occurred immediately after impact. Loud static, white noise.

I did not experience hearing loss. Nothing shows up on CT and MRI scans. Doctors say concussions don't usually show up on those scans anyway. I've seen ENT, audiologists, and neurologists. No cure for me.

Yeah, I think people suspect noise when it is not the cause, because they hear a sound. Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) alone can cause tinnitus. Your auditory system includes nerves that extend into your brain. You may have suffered a concussion and not even know it. Tinnitus is just one symptom of a concussion. Other symptoms may include headaches, fogginess, difficulty concentrating, fatigue, anxiety, irritability.

I recall my tinnitus started after being knocked unconscious in 1971. It has gotten worse over time. Hypnosis, acupressure, drugs only anesthesia has made the ringing stop. White Noise or some type of sound is the only way to get to sleep. Do any of you have a startled reaction, ready to fight, when awakened suddenly?

I get nightmares now and when they wake me up the ringing becomes louder. So acupressure helped?

Acupressure for me was not much help. It was expensive, not covered by insurance and in my city ( New Orleans) had few practitioners. I have been told that acupuncture may be more effective. I haven't found a practitioner that I feel comfortable with. None that have used it for Tinnitus therapy.
