Hello My Name Is Darlene — Can Tinnitus Sound Like It's From Blocks Away from My Home?

thank you
i have the static in my head, the T
but am 98 percent sure the noise i am hearing is created from the outside environment
it is also driving me crazy
cant be one but lets throw in another noise. sounds like deep low fast or slower pounding, thumping...

is actually distracting me
have to put on radio, tv, dehumidifier, furnace, etc especially bad waking up to it and when i am ready to sleep there it is. the noise is not always the same. have even called police on neighbour about the thumping/pounding noise

Absolutely. I thought the beep was coming from a different room in my house. It's common enough for T to appear to be coming from an external source. Good luck Darlene!

Have you tried wearing earplugs, or Peltor earmuffs and see whether you continue hearing that noise? If you stop hearing it, it is coming from the outside environment...

A little while before I knew I had tinnitus, I actually thought it was the noisy steam in each room of our apartment -- until one day when the weather began to get colder and heat was not being given... then I realized that sound was originating from me!

I have a very important question:

Can the noise sound like it's blocks away from my home?

Yes, and if that's the case, you could consider yourself kind of "lucky": for many of us, our T sounds like it's right there in our heads, or in our ears.
I'd much prefer if what I perceived sounded like something a few blocks away.

I hope it doesn't bother you too much.
