Cause of Tinnitus
Just Started One Day
I'm Brand new to Tinnitus, it just started one morning watching TV news, not even loud. I don't remember the date, but about 2 months now. I thought my wife left something on in the kitchen when it started.

Sucks, I wish she did, lol

Anyway, I'm also new to the group, joined just now. Wow, looks like a lot of great info, can't wait to look into all this knowledge from everyone. I never heard of masking, I tried some and it does help.

I just wanted to ask 1 quick question, maybe it will be a short cut to a quick answer, if not, then I might find something in reading info here?

Question - When I wake up most all mornings, I don't have Tinnitus, it takes a couple minutes for it to start, does this mean anything special??? or is there something I can do to keep it going longer??? Just wanted to see if this is normal with others???

Thanks for any help. :)

FYI
, I can only hear out on one ear, since I was like 5 and fell and hit my head. I'm now 50 and I sleep on my good ear, so I don't hear our cats play at night. Not sure when it stops at night? So I don't hear anything until I lift my head then mins later it starts.

Welcome to the forum and tinnitus! Hopefully yours will be short lived.

I don't have any advice on your problem of tinnitus appearing in the morning. All I can say is that tinnitus varies so greatly and experiences are so all over the board....

Mine is quiet when I wake up but slowly starts to creep up and there it is for the day. I think sleep has a lot to do with calming it down.

Same here, mine last all day once it starts as well. Well, I'm not the only one then. :) I read some about those who have it all night, and thought maybe it was not common to have it stop during sleep? But as was said, looks like everyone is a little different, Thanks

Hello there @Eternity Driven,

Welcome to the forum. I do not have an answer to your question but I am sure another member here will ring with some helpful information for you.

All I can say is to take good care of your ears for a while. Stay away from loud places/noises. Give your ears a chance to heal.

BTW Your name made me think of the book Driven by Eternity by John Bevere.

Same pattern here- almost gone in the morning, and then builds during the day. Wish I could just stay in bed, and maybe it would stay away!

Thanks, I will try to take good care of them. I have noticed that one day when I vacuumed the floor, the load noise made my Tinnitus really bad, so I covered my good ear with my hand most of the time.

Is that normal for Tinnitus, when you hear a load noise it gets worse??? That's the only loud noise I was around in the past 2 months. I'm going to get a ear plug for next time that happens.

I never thought about "Stay away from loud places/noises." would make a difference for Tinnitus, maybe making it even worse in the long run, so thanks, I will make sure I do this for sure. ;)

Yes, the "book Driven by Eternity by John Bevere" is were I got my User name, I love that book!!! The Affabel Story is Powerful to, I have the book, but Affabel I have on CD, I like to just sit back and let the story take me away ... :)

I guess we have it better then those who have it at night, so we have one thing to be happy for. Thanks

Question, have you or anyone else tried using ear plugs in the morning, before Tinnitus starts or before Tinnitus gets bad for other??? Just wondering if it might help keep it at bay a little longer??? As soon as I buy a ear plug, I'm going to try, I know it's different for everyone?

I have already gotten good info from this group, and ideas I never thought of, and I just joined yesterday afternoon. :)
What a Great Group! Thanks guys

I think it's possible a situation like this has its origin(s) in the neck (somatic tinnitus). Have you ever considered getting one of those inflatable neck braces, and see if taking pressure of the neck affects your tinnitus? I don't think that would be a long-term solution, but it might give you some insights if it temporarily makes it better.

Thanks for the info, never hear of (somatic tinnitus), well to be honest, I have not heard of anything yet, to new at it I guess. :) I will have to look into that and maybe give it a try?

Do you know if anyone else has tried this? If not, if I get a chance to get a inflatable neck brace, I will try it out.

Mine seems to start shortly after rising, and seems the worst around 4 or 5PM, then generally starts to quiet down. I normally don't have a hard going to sleep with it. However, it will wake me up in the middle of the night. I do some tinnitus exercises I have found, along with some neck ones, and that generally quiets it down enough to go back to sleep.

Have you done an audiogram? Speech in noise?

I hear ya, May I ask what exercises help, I have not heard about any yet, Thanks

If you have a link, that would be great, don't worry about trying to type it all out, that's to much work. ;)

Well I finally got a ear plug, I tried it this morning, I put it in before T started, but T started a few minutes later anyway. :(

I'm going to try again anyway, a few times at least. Well, you don't know until you try. ;)
