      My name is Dianne, I am a 69 yr old woman who started with ringing in my ears at around 2012. Normally it does not bother me when I am busy, but when things get quite I hear it and it is bothersome, especially when I cannot sleep. I would so like this to stop like right now please!

      @di from Oregon ,
      Welcome to Tinnitus Talk.
      Maybe try a natural sleep aid like Melatonin or playing some relaxing music to drift off asleep too.
      You could have age related hearing loss and could benifit from hearing aids.
      We are here around the clock to support you so your never alone .
      Love glynis x

      I found it helpful to use sound enrichment for sleeping... Not music, but other sound like white noise or crickets or running water. You could look into bedside sound machines that have a selection of sounds to choose from.

      I take a late shower every night and have an eye mask to make room darker, sound Machine to listen to ocean and I have a fan, take 2 Tylenol PM in bed 1030. Keep to the same routine. I hope it helps with your sleep.

      Gosh, thx so much for your helpful tips, it is so kind of you but my insomnia troubles are because of Hypo/Hyperthyroidism and a sluggish liver apparently, which I am being treated for by a Naturepathic Practitioner.

      @di from Oregon Seeing your diet specialist should really help you.

      My wife and my cat both went thru Hyperthyroidism and then Hypo at the same time. California had strict laws where fire resistant chemicals were added to fabric and wood products that could cause Hyperthyroidism. Before the late seventies, there were very few cats that got Hyperthyroidism, that's before fire resistant chemicals.

      Hopeful that it will get better for you.

      Wow, was not aware that these chemicals where that harmful, don't know if I was exposed or not, but I am improving, actually got sleepy today which has not happened in a long time.
