Cause of Tinnitus
Unknown
I am a 38 y/o male that has always had a very slight ringing in the background. Nothing that ever bothered me. Many times never even noticed it.

For the past month the noise is SCREAMING loud. Its a very high pitch steady ring. It mostly seems like it's coming from the middle of my head. However, sometimes I notice 1 side more than the other.
Also sometimes, it will increase and decrease frequency and loudness very quickly.
I am going to see an ENT soon.

My question is just from what I have said, does anyone else experience this? Causes? Solutions? Its driving me mad. Mainly I just want some help, some suggestions, or maybe some insight on causes.

Thank you very much,
Michael

@M.Olszewski,
Welcome to Tinnitus Talk.
Tinnitus can be caused through lots of reasons.
Loud sounds
Playing music loud through headphones
Virus
Ear infection
Hearing loss
Stress,Anxiety
Ear conditions
Wax build up
Medications
And the list goes on.

Try keep relaxing music on around you as will help keep you calm and a distraction from your sound.
Tinnitus can be in one or both ears and head and change sound and strength and more than one sound.

Good luck at ENT
Love Glynis

My t is more intrusive when:

I am tired and stressed
I eat sugar
I focus on it
I am exposed to loud noise

what helps my t?

Quality REM sleep
Avoid sugar
Focus on relaxing
distractions
Mindfulness cbt
Talking with others
sound therapy

I am sorry you feel tormented. I used to feel that way too till i learnt to not care as much about my t.
its an awful place to be mentally.

have a read of the back to silence thread. Keep posting. We all understand what you are going through. Youre not alone.

The cause of my t is an ear infection/ ciprofloxacillin with a background of a mild bilateral SSHL.
