This was kind of obvious and I don't know why I didn't notice it before. If you widely and firmly place both your hands on your earmuff cups and squeeze a bit (don't press down) while in a car, it removes basically all road noise and vibrations, ~85-90% more than just wearing earmuffs.

I recently went on a long drive (2 hours) in double protection with Peltor X5A in a not very quiet car and I could barely hear the road noise or vibrations at all. It was almost complete silence.

      P. S. Doing this removes most of the rumbling noise, I'm sure you all know what I mean.

So I tried this today when I was walking around with earmuffs on and my footsteps were so loud and i could barely hear my footsteps at all! I’m like wtf, what is the physics behind this.

      Hello,

Since last week I've been using an anti-vibration cushion in the car. The product is called "Ergodrive".

I don't know if it's very effective in reducing vibrations for people like us who have hyperacusis, particularly in the low frequencies.

In any case, it is used medically for people with back problems caused by car vibrations.
