      That's assuming a cure is even possible. There are many chronic conditions out there that may never be cured. Having said that, if there is a cure out there then we're closer than ever and tomorrow we'll be closer still.

      True...we may have to settle for treatment(s) that can only reduce the severity of T & H. However, if you're at a level 8- 9, or 9-10, going down to a level 3-4 would be such a great relief!...:joyful:

      @jimH Yes anything would be a blessing at this stage. A pill to stop T for 1 hour a day. Anything is better than nothing. Sadly nothing realistically on the horizon.

      For Example:

      before right : 125hz -> 10db, 250hz -> 0db .... etc

      after left : 125hz -> 10db, 250hz -> 0db .... etc
      after right : 125hz -> 10db, 250hz -> 0db .... etc

      Also what is the reason of your T ?
      thanks

      I'd swim across the ocean if there was a cure. Lol
      Some days I just wish I had someone who'd be here with me to chat with when my anxiety goes up.

      There is a cure for polio. There is even now a cure for Hepatitis C. There is also a way to correct nearsightedness. Why not a cure for tinnitus as well?

      I guess if they found a way to cure hair cell damage then that could cure tinnitus and hearing loss for many people out there (given their problems are due to hearing damage). I don't know if that would be possible however. I am planning on becoming a doctor and this will be my field of research. Imagine curing yourself and others along with you.

      I would also like to use my expertise to help find a cure for tinnitus, I don't know a lot of hearing companies hiring software engineers though... a transition into bioinformatics would be awesome.

      Software engineer here as well.

      You can do image processing, it's a lot of fun and it's often an important part of medical software. :p

      No, seriously, if I wanted to transition to bioinformatics I'd totally attempt to do it that way.

      I'm having these same thoughts to, since I don't have kids or any major financial responsibilities at the moment. I wouldn't mind going back to school and getting into the medical field for inner ear research.

      MIT (school in America) offers a ton of open courses for biology and the sciences - if you want to wet your whistle before committing, you could see if the topics/course material interest you. They actually even have about 7 graduate classes all centered around the ear (https://ocw.mit.edu/courses/find-by-topic/#cat=science&subcat=biology):

      HST.720 Physiology of the Ear
      HST.721 The Peripheral Auditory System
      HST.722 Brain Mechanisms for Hearing and Speech
      HST.723 Neural Coding and Perception of Sound
      HST.725 Music Perception and Cognition
      HST730 Molecular Biology for the Auditory System
      HST750 Modeling Issues in Speech and Hearing

      Some are a bit dated (2005), and it would require a lot of reading, but the idea is there.

      From what I remember, he took it for some time, then stopped and the T never returned. He considered himself cured. But there is no way of knowing if it was the drug or just time itself since his T was quite new. The drug is being taken off the market anyway because of how dangerous it is. A lot of people on here had negative side effects from it.
