      @Danny Boy

I'm just wondering, can you describe your hyperacusis sympthoms that you had before you started to take Keppra ? And then tell me how many of these problems did Keppra stop. I would really like to know. like did you have ear pain ? or headache's ? how bad was your sound tollerance ? It would be interesting to understand how bad was your hyperacusis and tinnitus was before you took Keppra. There is quiet a range of serverity in people with hyperacusis and tinnitus.

      Let me know

      Thank You

Ok. I had hyperacusis as soon as tinnitus started. I had over amplification where sounds were far too loud and hurt badly. My tinnitus was reactive, to the point where kettles and anything high frequency would compete with the reactiveness. All that was gone after a few weeks after keppra, but it's gradual.

      Turmeric was more for headaches.

    5. It works well for inflammation..some say nerve pain. I took it faithfully for over a year, and perhaps that could be why I was better last year than this one..I stopped when my gallbladder was removed in September.

Gallbladder removed? Does that affect anything?

How are you doing today ?

Are You saying that Tumeric helped with your headaches and ear pain, for a year ?

Ah, fair enough. Just sounds important that is all. What is SCDS?

    10. I don't know Louie..Maybe? Guess I could attempt adding it back and see how it goes..but I have to be careful as it aids in bile production and for me, that could be a problem.

How am I doing? Not well, but thanks for asking! Hope you're ok.

    11. Your gallbladder IS very important! Don't get it out unless a doc proves to you that it's actually, really and truly diseased. I've met GI Residents that say " eh, it wasn't your gallbaldder but don't worry, you don't need it"

      Bloody fools.

Well, in England getting anything done on the NHS is impossible.

    14. Here in Canada, GB removal is extremely common..a booming business you might say..anyways it was nice my ER Nurse told me.my Surgeon (it was " emergency surgery" but actually it wasn't depending who you talk too) anyways. he said . my Surgeon wasn't just a " slice and dice guy" and that he " only takes it out if necessary" that made me feel better ..I was like..ok then...wtf?!

Hm, well, is the health system like America over there?

    16. Oh screw that..I'm asking for Keppra when I see him.next!..My CT scan is Mon so should be soon after..hopefully.

I have no fear of trying it ( I take and try all kinds of meds for relief!) and I feel like jumping off a cliff..so what do I have to lose?

Just hope he gives it to me..I will tell him about this thread..haha

    17. Well surgeons are surgeons..they get paid to cut...but we don't pay (financially) thankfully
..not having my gb has messed me up! but my.body is slowly adapting..slowly..I am stuck on ppis though!

So is it insurance based or like the NHS? Where it's free at the point of delivery?

    19. Sounds freaking fantastic to me! I'm in.

@quietatnight I am just as bad..I will be sure to report. (if I get it-Im determined to get it!)

Hopefully you are in! Seriously, hyperacusis and reactive tinnitus can kill or destroy you.

That's not bad...Well, at least it isn't like America...I'd rather have higher taxes than pay for cancer treatment if I ever get it.

    23. I mean what I say and I mean when I say, I'm in. Why the hell not? It IS destroying me..and my reactive T is worse! everything is..I don't know why though. .bloody hell. .like honestly I want this crap gone! 2 years in August.

I couldn't handle it for a few months, let alone a few years. You're a strong person.

    25. I'd be a million dollars in debt I'm sure, if I lived in the States..I've seen lots of docs over the years.

I'm getting a 2nd head CT scan..It's possible a brain tumor is in my future..how many xrays does that equal? lol

    26. I have two kids. I have to be.

    27. It's been ups and downs..last spring I got so much better it was almost gone. Then I vacuumed, my ears got full and I've never recovered.

      Hoovering is dangerous business. lol

      but seriously. .that happened.

It's silly how a treatment for tinnitus and hyperacusis is actually quite straight forward and has been around for a long time.
