If you have been following my story, then you know my theory on neck/spine and my tinnitus.
With the last 6 months I have had 3 episodes of Migraine Visual Aura.
My theory (now) is that my neck/spine theory is really related to the visual cortex - perhaps blood supply/allergy/stress/migraine.

Here is a video of exactly what I have been experiencing:
      Migraine Visual Aura

It does not happen ALL the time - only 3 in 6 months, but what if it is the "next symptom stage" of an underlying issue?

I wonder if anyone else suffers from migraine or other similar ailment and if that issue has caused you some tinnitus?

Hmm....I have not been following your story, but, if you are having these kinds of visual anomalies I hope you have seen a specialist. This kind of thing can be a sign of something very serious going on such as a tumor, etc. If you haven't yet....go see a doctor soon.

I've had exactly the same a few times before tinnitus, a lot of people get visual migraine.
It is what is and is scary the first time but it seems to be harmless.

      Hi,

I regularly had those ophtalmic migraines when I was in college. Like, one every 3 - 4 months (it was before I had tinnitus). It was very destabilizing to experience this.. Fortunately it just stopped to occur regularly. I did not have to do anything to stop them, it just stopped by itself. An ophtalmologist I saw at the time told me those migraines were simply caused by my anxiety.

It still happens sometimes but now it is very rare. Last one was around one year ago.. I tend to believe it happens when I am very stressed.

It does not necessarily mean something serious. It is actually quite common (I know several people who have this). It would probably be a good idea to tell your doctor about this though.

I have had migraines with aura for about 10 years, and I'm wondering how many of us, tinnitus sufferers, also experience migraine with aura. Do you think there is a connection?

I experienced aura migraine in the past (flickering dot becoming a half circle and then moving outward towards the edge of vision over the course of half an hour. Luckily they were few and far in between. It's been over a year since I've had one.

Another visual symptom that is way more common is some sort of transient colored blotch (like an afterimage of a flash light) that sometimes occurs when I exercise. Not always. Mostly when I run at night, being tired and too soon after a meal. When it comes on, it's during the first 10 minutes and lasts for about 15.

Oh yeah I have floaters too.

I have had visual migraines rarely since I was about 3rd grade~. That means waay before tinnitus. I never managed to fins a cause. Only what I would call "risk factors": not eating well, being tired, long screen time. But sometimes it could also be out of the blue. Also mine last for longer. 30-45 minutes average.
